Several people have alleged that BSP Telangana President Mandha Prabhakar, under the guise of running a voluntary organisation, defrauded poor individuals, and even his own party workers.
Hundreds of people from across the State today protested at the BSP State office in Lakdikapul in Hyderabad.
They claimed that Prabhakar, along with Malavi Karunodaya Society owner Konda Krishnamma, collected crores of rupees from them with false promises of housing, subsidies and loans for dairy farming, agriculture and fisheries through NABARD schemes.
Holding placards, they demanded action against Prabhakar and Krishnamma, and the return of their money.
They also demanded Prabhakar's immediate removal as president, citing the "harm" he caused to marginalised communities.
Some of the people from among the protestors who spoke with the media included Palleti Ravinder, Gurrala Nagaiah and Mudigi Bhikshapathi, and they detailed how the duo collected amounts ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh per person, promising housing and financial aid through the Malavi Karunodaya Society.
Ravinder said that Prabhakar had taken Rs 42 lakh from people in the Munugode Assembly constituency alone, assuring housing projects. However, even after two years, no houses were built, nor were loans sanctioned, Ravinder lamented.
He also claimed that when asked about the delay or for refunds, Prabhakar allegedly threatened the victims. Ravinder recounted an incident where Prabhakar warned him saying, "Do you know who you are talking to? I am the State President. I will ruin your future and finish you off."
Ravinder expressed fears for his life and urged the BSP national leadership to take this issue seriously and ensure justice for the victims.
