Director General of Police K Aravinda Rao said that as part of the call given by the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TPJAC) and other pro-Telangana organizations for 'rail roko' (Palle Palle Pattala Paiki) program in Telangana region, 148 incidents of stoppage/disruption of trains were reported from various districts on Tuesday.
12 incidents were reported from Medak, 37 from Mahabubnagar, 19 from Warangal (U), 18 from Warangal (R), 1 from Ranga Reddy, 16 from Adilabad, 1 from Nizamabad, 10 from Khammam, 6 from Karimnagar, 9 from Nalgonda, 11 from Hyderabad city, and 8 from Cyberabad (8).
The Charminar Express was stopped between the Nashkal and Ghanpur railway stations (Warangal district) at LC Gate No. 51, and the Karnataka Sampark Kranti Express was stopped at the Jammikunta railway station (Karimnagar district).
Other minor incidents took place as a result of 10 Telangana activists removing 4 ERC clips in-between the Bizgirsharrif and Kolanur railway stations.
At KM No. 283/7-11 near the Raghavapur railway station in Karimnagar, unknown persons removed 4 pandrol clips that were immediately restored by the railway trackmen.
10 MLAs, under the leadership of TDP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy, observed the 'rail roko' program at the Secunderabad railway station, and squatted on the railway track for 30 minutes.
A case under section 147 of the Railway Act has been registered at the Railway Protection Force (RPF) post in Secunderabad. Miscreants placed boulders on the railway-track at KM No. 197/15-16 near the Pudur railway station, and a case has been registered at the RPF post, Mahabubnagar.
Agitators removed 150 ERC clips on the down railway line between the Nekkonda and Eluguru railway stations in Warangal district at KM No. 405/16-18. The clips were restored immediately.
In view of rail roko agitation, 5 trains were stopped at various stations, and 17 trains were cancelled (12 express and 5 passenger) by the railway authorities, and 6 express trains were detained by the agitators at various locations.
A total of 5 cases were registered by the RPF against rail roko agitators (2 in Mahabubnagar, 2 in Khammam and 1 in Hyderabad districts).
In connection with the Srikakulam district bandh call given by the Thermal Vyethireka Porata Samithi, Srikakulam, 50 agitators detained train No. 12863, HWH-YSP Express for 20 minutes at the Palasa railway station. The agitators also detained train no. 18463 BBSR-BGL, Prasanthi Express, and raised slogans for justice, with respect to the
Kakarapalli power plant incident.
In all, the police took into custody 1706 rail roko agitators and 343 other agitators to maintain normalcy in the state. As many as 141 cases were booked under 151 Criminal PC (Rail Roko) and 10 cases under 151 Criminal PC. The overall situation is peaceful, the DGP said.
