Finding fault with the massive media campaign before the Rachabanda program, the Lok Satta Party (LSP) wondered why such fanfare was being attached to it when it was only an extension of the government's mandate.
LSP blamed the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy for undermining democracy and administration. The party also condemned the Chief Minister for visiting all districts, and trying to do what elected local governments were supposed to do, with pomp and ostentation in the name of 'Palle Bata', 'Praja Patham', 'Janma Bhoomi' and 'Rachabanda'.
DVVS Varma, President of the Lok Satta Party, pointed out that the CM was merely following in the footsteps of his predecessors by launching 'Rachabanda'.
In his opinion, a Chief Minister should earn peoples' recognition and respect by resolving their problems, and should embark on making the administration, powers, responsibilities and resources transparent. "The CM should also adopt an approach to mitigate corruption", Varma said.
The LSP President appealed to people to draw the Chief Minister's attention to irregularities and corruption in welfare schemes including NREGS (National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme), the havoc liquor is causing, and the problems concerning drinking water, health and education.
He also mentioned that the people should demand empowerment of local governments to address local problems.
