While police investigations established a connection between the suicides of beautician Sirisha at a photo studio in Filmnagar on Tuesday and Sub-Inspector Prabhakar Reddy of the Kuknoorpally police station the next day, the core mystery behind the twin tragedies continues.
Though preliminary investigations indicated that the Sub-Inspector had committed suicide with his service revolver, the police have yet to establish whether the beautician had committed suicide or was murdered, and have stepped up investigations into the case which has created a sensation in the state. Rajeev, the owner of the phot studio where Sirisha was working, and his friend Shravan have been taken into custody and are being interrogated. Even the car belonging to Rajeev was seized by the investigating officers as this was the vehicle in which Rajeev, Shravan and Sirisha had gone to meet SI Reddy at the Kuknoorpally police station.
The investigating officers who grilled Rajeev and Shravan the whole night are taking them to the Kuknoorpally PS for further inquiries there. The Commissioner of Police of Siddipet, who is supervising the investigation of the SI's suicide, is also likely to interrogate Rajeev and Shravan with regard to their meeting the SI. The police are trying to find out whether these two along with Sirisha had met the SI in the police station or somewhere else.
Meanwhile, the forensic doctors of Osmania Hospital, who conducted the postmortem on Sirisha's body, submitted their report to the investigating officials this evening. According to the report, the doctors found injuries on her lips, cheeks and head. The backbone was also found broken at the neck.
For those who came in late, Vijayalakshmi alias Sirisha, a resident of Krishnanagar and working as a beautician cum H R Manager in R J Photo Studio in Filmnagar, was
found dead under suspicious circumstances. While the studio owner and Sirisha's boss claimed that he had found her hanging from the ceiling fan, the husband of the deceased woman claimed that there was no question of his wife taking her own life, and suspected that she was murdered.
While what compelled Sub-Inspector Reddy to take his own life is being probed by the police, his family members and relatives allege that he committed suicide due to harassment by his superior officers. This however has been denied by the Commissioner of Police and the SP of Siddipet district.
