The TDP government in Andhra Pradesh seems to be under pressure from the Opposition parties after Union minister Jayant Sinha
announced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that as per the 14th Finance Commission's recommendations, there was no possibility of Special Status being accorded to Andhra Pradesh.
After that stunning announcement in Parliament, BJP leaders in Andhra Pradesh have pretty much gone into hiding, while the main Opposition YSR Congress Party is mounting pressure on the Chief Minister and the TDP government by levelling severe allegations.
YSR Congress Party general secretary Dharmana Prasad Rao asked Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to walk out of the NDA. He said that a fight was now inevitable for getting Special Status for the State, and that a mass agitation would be chalked out. He also said Naidu should take a firm decision on the Special Status issue instead of continuing to mislead the people. The Party would extend total support to the TDP government if it wanted to fight against the Centre on the issue, he committed.
Rao said that the YSR Congress would start the agitation by organizing a storming of the District Collectorates across the State on May 10.
