Former MP B Vinod Kumar, on Wednesday, defended the decision of Telangana Rashtra Samithi to remain neutral in the presidential elections scheduled to be held on 19 July.
Talking to media persons, Vinod Kumar said that the TRS would abstain from voting like in 2008, when it did not participate in the election.
Stating that the TRS has, so far, not taken any decision over extending support to UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee, he said that TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao would take a final decision on its participation in the presidential voting.
Vinod Kumar came down heavily on the YSR Congress party's decision to support the candidature of Pranab Mukherjee.
He alleged that the YSRC was supporting Pranab Mukherjee as part of a deal reached with the Congress, which, he claimed, facilitates the release of YSR Congress party president Jaganmohan Reddy, who is languishing in Chanchalguda Jail in the disproportionate assets case.
Stating that the Telangana region had suffered major injustice even in the establishment of nursing colleges, he pointed out that the Seemandhra region has six nursing colleges as against one college in Telangana. He demanded that the government take steps for the setting up of more nursing colleges in the Telangana region to rectify its mistake. (INN)
