TS Genco and Transco Chairman and Managing Director D Prabhakar Rao skipped the review meeting on the power sector held by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at the Secretariat today.

Soon after taking oath as the Chief Minister, Reddy presided over the first cabinet meeting, during which he instructed the officials not to accept the resignation of Rao, who stepped down from the post a few days back, and directed the officials concerned to summon him to the review meeting scheduled for today.

The meeting, on the power sector at the Secretariat, had ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister's Office Seshadri, Special Principal Secretary (Finance) Ramakrishna Rao, Special Chief Secretary (Energy) Sunil Sharma, Singareni CMD Sridhar, CPDCL CMD Raghuma Reddy, NPDCL CMD Gopal Rao and other officials participating.

Rao told the media that he had no information about the meeting.

"I have no information about today's review meeting. No one has called me for any such meeting. If the Chief Minister summons me, I will not stay away from the meeting and will definitely attend it," he said.

In the meeting, officials reportedly told the Chief Minister that the total debts of power sector in Telangana were Rs 85,000 crore. Apart from this, as part of the six guarantees given by the Congress, free electricity will be given to those who use less than 200 units of electricity.

In this background, the Chief Minister conducted a comprehensive review for the full understanding of the affairs of the power department for the implementation of the 200 units assurance.
