Minister for Forests and Environment Indrakaran Reddy today launched an online portal for the Nehru Zoological Park, nzptsfd.telangana.gov.in, as well as a mobile application, to enable people to book tickets.
Through these, people can now book their tickets in advance, and simply swipe them at the special entrance to be able to enter the zoo.
The website has been designed by the Centre for Good Governance, and provides complete information about the Zoological Park in addition to the facility to book both entry tickets and battery vehicle tickets.
Zoo Park director Vinay Kumar, curator Rajasekhar and others were present at the launch.
The Nehru Zoological Park occupies 380 acres and is adjacent to the 600-acre Mir Alam Tank. Nearly 100 species of birds, animals and reptiles are housed at the zoo, including the indigenous Indian rhino, Asiatic lion, Bengal tiger, panther, gaur, Indian elephant, slender loris and python, as well as many varieties of deer, antelopes and birds.
The Mir Alam Tank with its unique multiple arched bund (embankment) attracts hundreds of migratory birds, providing yet another attraction for the zoo.
