Minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar slammed the Opposition today for levelling remarks against the State government, and said that the former ministers, who had lost power, were speaking out of frustration.
Speaking at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, the minister said that it was just two days since the formation of the new government, but the BRS leaders were questioning it already.
"Two of our six guarantees have been launched within 48 hours of the formation of the government. And these two schemes are being implemented in all 119 Assembly constituencies in the State. I am not sure what exactly the BRS leaders are complaining about," he said.
He added that the previous BRS government had turned the revenue-surplus Telangana into a debt-ridden State and that the State's financial position a complete mess, and that the leaders of that party had no right then to talk.
He also alleged that in the BRS government there was no freedom to raise issues and that nobody dared speak about their problems. The Congress government would however run in a democratic manner, and would listen to the voices of all sections of the people and resolve their issues, he claimed.
Ponnam also said that the State government could understand the problems of the auto drivers following the implementation of the Mahalakshmi scheme which allowed women free rides in all TSRTC buses, and said that a suitable decision would be taken after discussing with all the stakeholders.
