Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay today made serious allegations against IPS officer and former Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) chief Prabhakar Rao, calling him a vile person who had deceived many.
He claimed that Rao's appearance before the SIT inquiry was pre-planned, and that his "counselling" with former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's family had already taken place in the United States.
Sanjay alleged that Rao was responsible for harassing many political activists, including Sanjay himself, and demanded that the Telangana government release Rao's statement given to the SIT.
"Not just Chief Minister Revanth Reddy - Prabhakar Rao tapped the phones of leaders from the Congress, BJP and BRS, as well as judges and mine. Many lives and families have been ruined because of him. He's a scoundrel who even tapped private conversations between husbands and wives, creating an atmosphere where couples couldn't speak freely on the phone," he alleged, and demanded strict action against the former SIB chief.
He also questioned the motive and chain of command behind the phone-tapping scandal. "The public has a right to know on whose orders this was done. What was done with the tapped calls? To whom were these recordings sent? Who was threatened using this intercepted data?" he asked.
