GHMC Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha along with her husband and BRS Trade Union Cell president Shobhan Reddy today joined the Congress in the presence of Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar at Gandhi Bhavan.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister congratulated both Srilatha Reddy and Shobhan Reddy for joining the Congress, and said that that there was recognition for every leader in the Congress.
He added that a Congress government came to Telangana due to the aspirations of the people, and that the Congress was committed to work for the welfare and development of all sections.
Prabhakar alleged that the BRS, which was born with the name Telangana Rashtra Samithi, had formed its governments on the sacrifices of the martyrs, but had ignored the Telangana activists.
Srilatha Reddy said that that she and her husband had been in the BRS party since its inception in 2000, but that they did not get proper recognition in the party.
"I have joined the Congress without any pressure. I am also impressed at the way the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is giving importance to Telangana activists," Srilatha Reddy said.
