Minister for Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar today came down heavily on the Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP) claiming that its leaders who were asking about the Congress' guarantees should tell how many of its promises had been implemented by the BJP at the Centre in the last ten years.
Prabhakar staged a protest at the Congress office in Karimnagar on Sunday against the "injustice" done to Telangana by the union government during the last ten years.
Speaking on the occasion, Prabhakar said that the BJP government had failed to implement the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, and was discriminating against Telangana in the allocation of funds.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not implemented any promises of in the AP Reorganisation Act, and moreover, has imposed 12% GST on handloom garments," he said.
Prabhakar also slammed Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay for failing to bring funds from the Centre, and said that Sanjay didn't have any right to seek votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
"What did Bandi Sanjay do as MP for five years? BJP leaders like Kishan Reddy said that Sanjay had lost the post of the party's State president because of his corruption. And if Prime Minister Modi really did any good work, Sanjay should ask votes with Modi's photo, not with Lord Rama's photo," he said.
"If the BJP is sincere about the development of Telangana, it should tell what the Union government has done during the last ten years. Even now, why is the Centre not supporting the Telangana farmers who have suffered due to natural calamities and drought?" Ponnam Prabhakar asked.
