Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today alleged that the previous BRS government was responsible for the present economic crisis in Telangana.
Taking part in the debate in the Legislative Assembly on the "injustice" done to Telangana in the union budget, the Chief Minister said that the BRS government had destroyed all the sectors and had kept pending all bills payable in every department before the party lost power in the Assembly elections.
"The people taught a fitting lesson to the BRS in the Assembly elections after witnessing its failures," he said.
Reddy said that during the last ten years the BRS had supported the BJP government at the Centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in every decision, including the Triple Talaq bill, candidates for the President and the Vice-President, demonetisation and the farm laws.
Reddy added that the BRS had staged a walk-out in the Lok Sabha when the opposition had moved a no-confidence motion against Modi's government in 2018, and that BRS Rajya Sabha member Santosh flew on a special flight and participated in the voting in support of the RTI Amendment Act in 2019.
But despite all that the BRS government had not made any effort to bring funds from the Centre to Telangana, he claimed. He recalled the statement of former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao that he did not require any funds from the Centre and that Modi's affection was enough, and said that Telangana had in fact got neither.
"If KCR comes forward, I will also join him on a fast to death dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi demanding justice for Telangana. Let us decide whether Telangana gets Central funds or not by launching a stir. The BRS should finalise the date and schedule to sit on the dharna at Jantar Mantar," Reddy said.
