"Ponnala Hatao, Congress Bachao," Says Shankar Rao

The former minister said he would lead a campaign with the slogan "Ponnala Hatao, Congress Bachao", referring to Telangana Congress chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah.

Former minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Tuesday announced that he would lead a campaign with the slogan "Ponnala Hatao, Congress Bachao".

Speaking to media persons in the Assembly premises, Rao blamed Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah for the party's defeat in the Secunderabad Cantonment elections.

He said that the Congress has been losing elections ever since Ponnala had been made the TPCC chief. He accused Ponnala of damaging the party in Telangana.

He said that the Congress' popularity was so low in the SCB polls that even the daughter of former Union Minister Sarve Satyanarayana lost the elections.

Rao said that he was ready to become the TPCC chief if the Congress High Command selected him for the job. He said that he would strengthen the party at all levels and turn it into an active opposition party. (INN)
