Hyderabad | 4th March 2014
Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, on Tuesday, alleged that TRS Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao was avoiding his party's merger with the Congress to continue the exploitation of Telangana people.
Speaking to media personnel, Ponguleti alleged that KCR was following a hidden agenda. He said that KCR wants to accomodate his family members in top positions in Telangana, and for the same reasons, the TRS chief had gone back on his promise of merging his party with the Congress.
Accusing the TRS chief of exploiting the sentiments of the people of Telangana, he said that KCR wants to continue the practice even after the formation of the new state.
Ponguleti said that the Congress does not need the TRS, but it is the TRS that needs the Congress party for its survival.
Speaking about the Centre's proposal to merge the seven mandals of Khammam into Seemandhra, Ponguleti said that irrespective of party affiliations, all elected representatives of Khammam district have opposed the move.
However, he also questioned the silence of KCR on the issue and pointed out that the latter had not raised the issue in Parliament when the Telangana bill was being tabled.
Regarding YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy's Odarpu Yatra Odarpu Yatra in Telangana districts, Ponguleti said that everyone has a right to campaign anywhere in the country.
However, he said, the present situation was not favourable for any anti-Telangana party in the region and therefore, parties like YSRCP should also restrain from carrying out any campaign. (INN)
