Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh Bhagwath today said that the police department had increased surveillance in and around all the ATMs of the area following a rise in thefts near ATMs.

"A Haryana-based gang has been involved in several thefts in the area. The gang was headed by a Waris Khan, a native of Rajasthan. We have filed 11 cases against them. From the six arrested members, we have been able to recover Rs 73,000 in cash, a lorry, a motorbike and a TATA SUV," he said.

He then advised the managements of the banks in the area to appoint security officers at all their ATMs.
