The Goshamahal police on Saturday nabbed 2 persons accused of selling duplicate cosmetics and soaps of a well-known company.
According to police, the 2 accused, Praveen Singh and Balwanth Singh, used to sell the duplicate cosmetic products in bulk. The duo procured the merchandise from Mumbai at cheap rates, and sold it wholesale to the various retail shops in Begum Bazaar.
Some of these counterfeit products included consisted of soaps and shampoos from the well-known brand Dove.
The raids were carried out after the general manager of the manufacturing company filed a complaint regarding the availability of the fake cosmetics.
The police subsequently raided Sonu Novelties and Thakur Novelties, and arrested 2 people working there. The raids also yielded 357 other spurious products.
Cases were registered against the accused and also against the retailers. Further investigations are on.
