Police Drug Test Rowdy Sheeters, Holds Awareness Drive
During the drive, tests were conducted on rowdy sheeters, troublemakers, and individuals with a history of regular drug consumption in NDPS cases.

Upon the instructions of Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar, the Task Force of the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) today organised a special drive to conduct medical tests on rowdy sheeters, troublemakers, and individuals with a history of regular drug consumption in NDPS cases, and to create awareness among drug users about the legal consequences they may face.
The tests were conducted at the Osmania General Hospital, the Gandhi Hospital and the Government Hospital for Mental Care in Erragadda, in coordination with doctors.
At Gandhi General Hospital, a total of 70 persons were tested, of whom 44 tested positive and 26 tested negative. At Osmania General Hospital, 80 persons were tested, of whom 59 tested positive and 21 tested negative. At the Government Hospital for Mental Care, Erragadda, 89 persons were tested, of whom 86 tested positive and 3 tested negative.
Thus, in total 239 persons were tested of whom 189 were found positive.
The individuals were counselled by psychiatrists on the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of rehabilitation. Appropriate legal cases are being registered against those who tested positive, as per the law.
