Finance Minister Etela Rajender on Thursday stated the Telangana Government proposed to take an all-Party delegation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Polavaram issue.
Intervening during a discussion during the Question Hour in the State Legislative Assembly, the minister said that despite their merger with Andhra Pradesh, seven mandals of the Khammam district were still being taken care of by the Telangana Government.
He said that the government was supplying power to, providing rations for and even paying salaries to the staff posted in those seven mandals.
He said that an all-Party delegation would be taken to the Prime Minister to request him to return the 7 mandals to Telangana.
Earlier, replying to a question raised by MLAs T Venkateshwarlu and P Venkateshwarlu during the Question Hour, Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali said that there was no proposal to rehabilitate the people belonging to the merged 7 mandals of the Khammam district.
He said that despite a strong protest by the Telangana Government, the BJP Government at the Centre passed the Polavaram Bill, while the ordinance was issued by previous Congress-led UPA Government. (INN)
