The BJP has alleged that the Congress High Command is involved in allotting the Polavaram tenders to an ineligible company with a Russian tie-up. The party demanded that the company be blacklisted.
Party state president G Kishen Reddy claimed that the credentials of the Russian-based company - the consortium of Transstroy-UES - are questionable. He added that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had moved the files with "great urgency".
"The officials who toured Kazakhstan to have first-hand knowledge of the power plant made it a pleasure trip without going into the actual details," he alleged, "We have to black-list the company, and book criminal cases against the directors of the company," he said. (INN)
