Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Saturday denied making any statement questioning the genuineness of the farmers' suicides in Telangana.
Speaking to media persons, Pocharam accused a section of the media of distorting his statement.
He also ruled out tendering an apology as being demanded by the Opposition Parties.
He said that he had never stated that the farmers' suicides were not genuine, and added that the government would provide adequate financial assistance to the farmers who committed suicides.
Pocharam also condemned the TDP legislators for stalling the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly over his reported remarks. He advised the Opposition Parties to participate in the debate on the issue of farmers to be held in the Assembly on Monday, instead of disrupting the Assembly session. (INN)
