Responding to the suicide committed by a farmer named B Ramulu in Kamareddy in protest against the proposed acquisition of his land for the new masterplan, senior Telangana Congress leader Shabbir Ali said that the BRS government was responsible for the suicide.
He said that Ramulu's death was not a suicide but an institutional murder by the BRS government.
He claimed that the State government had issued a notification for a new masterplan for the Kamareddy municipality without involving any stakeholders.
Nearly 620 acres of land had been earmarked for acquisition for the industrial zone, and many agricultural lands which gave two crops a year were being taken away by the BRS government, Shabbir Ali claimed.
"This is unacceptable, and the Kamareddy farmers will never accept this defective plan. Farmers of many villages, including Tekriyal, Adloor and Inchipur, have been holding a protest against the proposed masterplan. But the BRS government is not responding to their agitation," Shabbir Ali said.
"I have also participated in the agitation, and have also written a letter to Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao in this regard. But the BRS government is not responding to any of the protests being held either by the opposition or the farmers," he added, and said that the Congress would intensify the agitation.
