Prime Minister Narendra Modi was received warmly at the old Begumpet airport today upon his arrival to the city for his first visit to Telangana post-bifurcation.
Governor E S L Narsimhan and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao presented bouquets and a shawl to Modi after he landed.
KCR then introduced the Prime Minister to the Telangana cabinet ministers. BJP Telangana president Dr K Lakshman also introduced his party leaders to Modi.
Telangana BJP secretary Mantri Srinivas, union ministers M Venkaiah Naidu and Bandaru Dattatreya, and State BJP leaders G Kishan Reddy, Nagam Janardhan Reddy and N V S S Prabhakar also welcomed the PM. A large number of BJP activists had also gathered outside the Begumpet airport to witness the occasion.
Later, Modi left for KCR's Gajwel constituency in the Medak district onboard a government helicopter to launch the Telangana government's flagship drinking water supply scheme Mission Bhagiratha at Komatibanda village. The helicopter was being guarded and escorted by two IAF aircrafts.
