PIL Filed On Charges Collected By Private Hospitals
A PIL was filed in the Telangana High Court against the collections of huge amounts by private hospitals for Covid-19 treatment in violation of government orders.
A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Telangana High Court against the collections of huge amounts of money by the private and corporate hospitals of the state for Covid-19 treatment in clear violation of government orders.
A city-based advocate Kishan Sharma filed the petition, and urged the HC to issue directions to the state government to take action against all the erring private and corporate hospitals.
Responding to the petition, the HC said that it was unfortunate that many private hospitals were not following the government's orders on the collection of fees from Covid-19 patients.
It expressed hope that the government was taking action against the managements of the private hospitals which had violated its orders, and said that the government should give an explanation on the issue if it had not take any action on the issue so far.
It also asked the state government what kind of action had been initiated by it against a hospital which had detained a government Deputy Medical Officer for not paying the billed fee.
It asked the government to respond on the issue before the 14th of this month.
