High Court Orders Action Against Private Hospitals
The court directed the government to act against private hospitals which were not following the government guidelines in collecting fees for Covid-19 treatment.
Dealing with a batch of PILs filed against the "exorbitant charges" being collected by various private hospitals for Covid-19 treatment, the Telangana High Court today directed the state government to take action as per the law against private hospitals which were not following the government guidelines and orders with regard to the fees to be collected from the patients.
The court also mandated that private hospitals display the rates to be charged for treatment.
It also directed the state to take action against private hospitals which took land from the government and failed to provide free treatment to poor people.
The court further asked the government to set up a grievance cell headed by the state Chief Secretary to monitor Covid-19 treatment.
The court sought a report on the implementation of its orders by September 4.
