The Telangana High Court today issued notices to the TRS government and the State Election Commission (SEC) on the issue of the alleged irregularities committed in the distribution of flood relief to the residents of the GHMC.
The court said that it had issued the orders while responding to a letter written by AICC spokesperson Dasoju Sravan.
It revealed that the letter would be treated as a PIL, and the hearing regarding the matter would take place after the upcoming Sankranti holiday.
In his letter, Sravan had reportedly alleged that ruling party's leaders and corporators had committed several irregularities in the distribution of the flood relief.
He apparently claimed that the ruling party's leaders had distributed Rs 10,000 per family as flood relief only to gain the votes of the residents of Greater Hyderabad in the GHMC elections, and that the SEC had unfairly helped the party in this attempt.
The flood relief distribution in the state has been marred by accusations of corruption and misappropriation. Sravan himself had earlier
slammed both the SEC and the TRS government over the issue, claiming that they had reduced the flood relief drive to a cheap way of gaining votes.
