The decision to grant permission was taken by Home Minister P Sabita, after discussion with MLC Chukka Ramaiah and Telugu balladeer "Gaddar".
Hyderabad | 27th January 2013
Due to the denial of permission to conduct Samara Deeksha causing protests to spill to several areas across the Telangana region, the state government has finally agreed to permit the Telangana Samara Deeksha at Indira Park.
Having failed to diffuse the tension even after arresting several leaders, resorting to lathicharge, and firing tear gas shells in Osmania University campus, the government finally bowed to the wishes of pro-Telangana groups, and permitted them to hold the Samara Deeksha. The decision to grant permission was taken by Home Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy after holding several rounds of discussion with MLC Chukka Ramaiah and Telugu balladeer "Gaddar". The permission has been granted till Monday 6pm.
Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram, who along with his supporters staged a sit-in protest at the JAC office, has expressed happiness over the granting of the permission. However, he said that the government should not have denied them in the first place. He demanded that all leaders and workers, who were arrested on their way to Indira Park on Sunday, be released immediately.
TRS floor leader Eetela Rajender, who along with other TRS MLAs, staged a dharna before the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Assembly premises, demanded that all the leaders arrested by the police be released immediately. (INN)
