Former Congress member and Punganur MLA Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy on Thursday pledged that he would not sleep till he dethroned Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
Talking to media persons, Ramachandra Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister had worked against the interests of the party by given tickets to those candidates who had garlanded Congress President Sonia Gandhi's portraits with slippers, in the Legislative Council elections.
"As sincere, obedient and loyal candidates are not getting recognition in the Congress," he said, "the loyal candidates had fielded Tippareddy as the rebel candidate against the official Congress candidate Naresh Kumar Reddy."
D Tippareddy had defeated Congress candidate Naresh Kumar Reddy in Chittoor with the support of the Jagan group.
Ramachandra Reddy also alleged that the Chief Minister had received kickbacks from the opposition party, and had forced voters into cross-voting.
If the Chief Minister had any moral values he should own responsibility for the failure of the official candidate in the council elections, the former minister said. He also demanded that Kiran Kumar Reddy resign from his post immediately.
When asked whether Tippareddy belonged to the Congress party or to the YSR Congress Party, the former minister stated that he would react only after getting a complete response from the Chief Minister in this regard.
