Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan today said that a decision on whether or not to contest the Telangana Assembly elections would be taken in a day or two after a deliberation in the party.
"The party is discussing in detail about fielding its candidates as it is not fully prepared due to the advancement of elections. We were planning to contest at least 23 Assembly seats and three Lok Sabha seats had elections been held as per schedule next year. But due to the elections being advanced, we are not prepared," Kalyan said.
He also said that some of the party leaders wanted to contest the elections as independents taking the party's support in case the party itself chose not to fight the elections. A decision would be taken in a day or two about all of this, he said.
Meanwhile, in a shot in the arm, an AP Congress leader and former minister Pasupuleti Balaraju joined the Jana Sena. Balaraju announced his joining of the party in the presence of Pawan Kalyan, who welcomed him by wrapping a shawl around him.
