Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar today said that the attendants or kin of Covid-19 patients receiving treatment at the city's Gandhi Hospital would not be allowed to enter the healthcare facility.
Speaking after launching a Covid-19 helpline at the hospital along with hospital Superintendent Dr Raja Rao, the CP urged the family members of the patients to find out the status of their relatives by using the helpline number instead of by physically visiting them, adding that the helpline would provide all kinds of information to the relatives of the patients.
Hospital Superintendent Dr Rao assured the attendants and the patients' families that the doctors at the hospital were providing excellent services to the patients, and reiterating Kumar's appeal, asked them not to visit the hospital. He said that some patients' family members had even died after being exposed to the deadly coronavirus.
Rao also added that the hospital would soon be launching a mobile app to provide information about the status of the hospital's Covid-19 patients to their families and friends.
The app will reportedly also provide information regarding the availability of treatment facilities, including the number of beds available at the hospital so that those requiring medical attention could easily find healthcare services.
In the past few days, the state has seen the launch of a number of teleconsultation services that were started for the benefit of Covid-19 patients and their families - MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi announced last month that the party would be
setting up a Covid-19 helpline and an oxygen bank to help Telangana fight the ongoing pandemic. TRS leader and MLC K Kavitha had also started
special Covid-19 helplines for the public.
Further, the Cyberabad Police and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council, both known for introducing many unique programs to help the citizens of Hyderabad, especially during challenging times like these, recently launched a COVID-Telemedicine Consultation
Call Centre Facility for the citizens of Telangana's capital as well.
