PAs, PROs Behind MLA-People Disconnect: Council Chairman

Gutha Sukender Reddy emphasized the importance of MLAs staying accessible via phone, and urged the representatives to actively engage with their electorate.
Hyderabad | 11th December 2024
Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy today said that the reason behind elected representatives including MLAs and MPs becoming distanced from the people and facing electoral defeats was the role of Personal Assistants (PAs) and Public Relations Officers (PROs).

Speaking at a training session for MLAs and MLCs held at the MCRHRD Institute, he said that the rude behaviour by the PAs and PROs discouraged public interaction, and stressed the need for legislators to maintain direct communication with their constituents.

Reddy cited instances where people calling their MLAs faced hostile responses from the staff, resulting in alienation.

Addressing the attendees, he emphasized the importance of staying accessible via phone, and urged them to actively engage with their electorate.

The training session aimed to equip MLAs and MLCs with skills to bridge the gap between them and the people, thereby fostering trust and improving governance.
