With the GHMC elections just two days away, the intense campaigning the city has been witnessing came to a close today.
The clash between the various political parties has been especially fierce this year, with the BJP's national leadership stepping in to campaign for the party for what is basically a local body election.
Union ministers including Amit Shah, Prakash Javadekar, Smriti Irani and Kishan Reddy were among those who participated in the BJP's campaign efforts.
Targeting Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, they criticised his "dynastic politics", and alleged corruption, inefficiency in handling the recent floods, and failure to fulfil his free 2-BHK houses promise.
The TRS too has been campaigning relentlessly. On Saturday, party supremo KCR addressed a massive public meeting at the L B Stadium, and accused the BJP of "divisive" ways and failure to provide monetary support to the state's flood victims.
Top TRS leaders K T Rama Rao and T Harish Rao among others have also been wooing voters across the city.
And Asaduddin Owaisi has been seen doing door-to-door canvassing for the AIMIM candidates.
With the parties finally wrapping up their campaigns today, the residents will get some much-needed respite from the cacophonous roadshows and blaring vans.
The elections will be held on December 1 amid strict Covid-19 protocols, and the results will be announced on December 4.
"Elaborate arrangements have been for the elections," State Election Commissioner Partha Sarathi said.
