An aunt of Pallam Raju (Union Minister Of State For Defence) was found murdered in her flat in Hyderabad on 27 April, Tuesday. Hyderabad Commisioner A K Khan and DCP Ravindra headed the investigation, after registering a case of murder for gain.
Mallepudi Suseela Devi (79), Raju's paternal uncle's wife, was a resident of Lotus Eslendito located behind the NIMS hospital on Road No 1. Banjara Hills, and lived in flat no. 103 of the bulding. Though injuries were found on her head, hands and throat, the police said that only an autopsy will reveal the actual cause of her death. A few gold ornaments were found missing from the lady's house.
According to the watchman of the complex, two persons stepped into the building between 2:30pm and 3pm on Tuesday, requesting to visit Suseela Devi at her home over the sale of an apartment. After one of them entered his name as 'Praveen', the duo went upstairs to meet her. 3 hours later, she was found dead in her kitchen by a member of the housekeeping staff.
The Punjagutta police brought in a sniffer dog, whose scented trail ended at the parking lot and the security guard's seat. Devi, who is said to have owned 5 flats in the building, has been living alone since the demise of her husband. Both her daughters are settled in the US.
