Paddy Procurement: Rs 3,000 Crore Credited Into Farmers' Accounts
The Telangana government has so far procured 64.52 lakh tons of paddy worth Rs 13,264 crore from 11 lakh farmers since the commencement of the Yasangi season.
The Telangana government today credited an amount of Rs 3,000 crore into the bank accounts of farmers whose paddy produce had been procured during the Yasangi agriculture season.
Minister for Civil Supplies Gangula Kamalakar said that the State government had so far procured 64.52 lakh metric tons of paddy worth about Rs 13,264 crore from about 11 lakh farmers since the commencement of the Yasangi agriculture season.
He said that Rs 9,168 crore were already disbursed to the farmers, and that the remaining amount would be credited into the accounts of the relevant farmers by June 20.
Claiming that about 90% of the paddy procurement was complete and that a total of 6,143 paddy purchasing centres had been closed in Telangana, the minister said that the decision of closing the centres had been left to the district Collectors who would decide based on the situation.
About 15 lakh more metric tons of paddy had been purchased this time than in the last agriculture season, and the State government was ready to purchase the entire paddy produced by the farmers, the minister said.
