Reiterating that the Congress government was committed to fulfilling all the promises that it had made during the campagining for the Assembly elections, Minister D Sridhar Babu today said that the guidelines were being prepared for implementing the promised Rs 500 per quintal bonus scheme for paddy farmers.
Speaking to the media, Sridhar Babu said that all the guarantees given by the Congress as part of its election manifesto would be implemented, and that there was no question of going back on any of its promises.
The Minister promised that the State government would purchase every grain of paddy produced in Telangana, and that the farmers need not worry about their produce.
Alleging that both the BJP and the BRS were trying to throw mud at the State government on the issue of paddy procurement, Sridhar Babu said that the opposition parties were indulging in cheap tactics in a bid to benefit in the Lok Sabha elections.
He added that neither the BRS nor the BJP were competitors for the Congress in Telangana, and exuded confidence that Congress would win 12 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
"The investigation into the phone-tapping case is going on at a fast pace. Those involved in the episode will come out soon," Sridhar Babu added.
The minister also condemned the allegations of K T Rama Rao that the phone calls of Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and other ministers were being tapped, and said that the Congress government would not encourage such practices.
