The 19th death anniversary of former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao was observed in Telangana today.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy along with ministers and Congress leaders visited the PVR Gyan Bhoomi on Necklace Road in Hyderabad and paid floral tributes to the former PM.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister spoke of P V Narasimha Rao's services for the country, and said that the nation was reaping the benefits now of reforms introduced by the former PM in economic and land administration.
Similarly, in collaboration with the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), a program was held at Gandhi Bhavan, where TPCC working president Mahesh Kumar Goud and other Congress leaders paid tributes to the former PM.
BRS working president K T Rama Rao along with his party leaders too visited PVR Gyan Bhoomi and paid tributes to Narasimha Rao.
Telangana Governor Dr Tamilsai Soundararajan and Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya were also among those who paid tributes to Rao.
The anniversary was observed at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi, too.
The program was held under the chairmanship of Resident Commissioner Dr Gaurav Uppal at the Ambedkar Auditorium in the Bhavan, where Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka paid tributes to a portrait of P V Narasimha Rao.
On the occasion, Vikramarka said that Rao had as the Prime Minister of India brought revolutionary changes in the economy, and that he (Vikramarka) felt proud that PV was born in Telangana.
Rao was the ninth Prime Minister of India, and governed between 1991 and 1996. Under him, various reforms to liberalise India's economy were introduced. He died on December 23, 2004.
