Former Lok Sabha Speaker and now an aspirant for the President's post P A Sangma, on Monday, called upon Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu, seeking his party's support for his candidature in the presidential election scheduled to be held in July.
Talking to media persons at the party office after meeting with Naidu, Sangma said that Naidu had assured him that he would take a decision on supporting his candidature after discussing the issue in the politburo meeting once the by-elections conclude.
He said that apart from the presidential elections, they had also discussed the prevailing political scenario in the country.
Replying to a question, the former Lok Sabha Speaker said that he had sought an appointment with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, but that he was yet to get a response from her. (INN)
