A speeding jeep rammed into a stationary truck on National Highway 7 in the district of Mahabubnagar, injuring 13.
The vehicles were on the stretch of the highway between Rajapur in Mahabubnagar and Balanagar in Hyderabad, when the accident occured on Tuesday morning.
According to the accounts of eye-witnesses, the driver of the overspeeding jeep lost control over his vehicle and rammed into a stationary truck. The legs of the driver and a passenger of the jeep were maimed by the accident. Passers-by who helped the victims of the accident stated that extricating the driver from the jeep had proved to be a hard job.
Of the injured, 8 were rushed to the Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad, while 5 others were rushed to a local hospital closer to the accident site. The medical condition of 3 of the victims has been termed 'critical', and the grevious wounds sustained by the other are being treated.
