OUJAC Protest Near Raj Bhavan Foiled

A group of students were taken into the custody by the police when they tried to move towards Raj Bhavan, raising slogans of "Jai Telangana".

The City Police on Saturday foiled an attempt by members of the Osmania Univesity Joint Action Committee to stage protests near Raj Bhavan.

A group of students were taken into the custody by the police when they tried to move towards Raj Bhavan, raising slogans of "Jai Telangana". The students were demanding that the Centre honour its promise of announcing the decision on statehood for Telangana by January 28.

Several dignitaries including Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, cabinet ministers, officials and other personalities were present in the Raj Bhavan as part of an "at home" event hosted by Governor E S L Narasimhan. (INN)
