Osmania University registrar Prof. M S N Reddy has instructed the managements of all colleges affiliated to Osmania University not to offer any courses under regular/distance modes of other universities.
The instructions were issued in view of a public notice issued by the University Grants Commission, cautioning against study centres and franchising institutions offering various degree and PG programmes of private and deemed universities.
Further, the OU registrar said that colleges affiliated to Osmania University should not allow any franchising arrangement with private coaching institutions, and should not let out their premises even for the purpose of conducting courses through the distance mode, since the UGC does not permit universities to offer courses outside their territorial jurisdiction.
Prof. Reddy said that college managements must adhere to UGC norms, and that any violation of the rules and regulations will be viewed seriously. (INN)
