Osmania University Associate Professor Arrested
An Associate Professor of the Osmania University, C Kasim, was arrested by police over suspected links with the Maoist movement, on Saturday.

An Associate Professor of the Osmania University was arrested by police over suspected links with the Maoist movement, on Saturday.
C Kasim, working as an Associate Professor in the Telugu department of the university, was allegedly involved in a case registered under the dreaded Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, among other sections, in the Mulugu police station in 2015.
The Siddipet police Commissioner said that as part of investigating the case the police had collected material evidence after receiving inputs against Kasim. The Commissioner added that the police had also conducted searches at Kasim's residence early in the morning, and had seized several documents and electronic evidence.
The Commissioner said that the police also had information that Kasim was in continuous touch with Maoist leaders. Kasim is allegedly working as an organizer of a "united front vertical" of the Maoists for Telangana, and is also helping raise funds for them, as per the police.
