HC Asks State To File Counters In Cases On C Kashim

The Telangana High Court directed the government to file a counter informing it of the status of the five cases registered against OU Assistant Professor C Kashim.

The Telangana High Court today directed the state government to file a counter affidavit informing it of the status of the five cases registered against detenu C Kashim, an Assistant Professor in Osmania University arrested yesterday for suspected links to the Maoists.

A division bench of the court also asked the State to produce the case diaries of the FIRs registered against the detenu.

The bench also said that there existed a possibility that human rights and constitutional mandates were being violated by the State, and directed the State government to produce evidence to prove the allegations that Kashim was collecting money from business people and handing it over to the Maoists.

A court later adjourned the case to January 24 for further hearing.

Earlier, pursuant to an earlier direction of the court, the police produced Kashim before the court.
