The special CBI court at Nampally, on Saturday, dismissed the petition of mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy and suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, that asked for a transfer of their bail petitions to the Second Additional Special Court since the predecessor judge B Nagamaruthi Sarma had already heard the bail plea in part.
It may be mentioned here that Justice Nagamaruthi Sarma was transferred to another CBI court, and he was replaced by Justice A Pullaiah.
While dismissing their appeals, the court adjourned the hearing on the bail petition of Gali Janardhan Reddy to 5 May, and that of Srilakshmi to 2 May.
Noted criminal advocate Ram Jethmalani appeared in the court to argue for Gali Janardhan Reddy's bail petition. However, the CBI sought more time to file a counter-petition in response to Gali's bail petition, as the additional solicitor did not turn up.
Directing the CBI to file the counter-petition, the court adjourned Gali's bail petition to 5 May. (INN)
