Srilakshmi's Judicial Remand Extended
Fed up of frequent extensions of the IAS officer's remand, the court has said that if the CBI fails to file a chargesheet, she might have to be released.
The CBI special court, on Tuesday, extended the judicial remand of suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi till 6 July.
The special court, while extending Srilakshmi's remand, directed the investigation agency to file charges against her in connection with the illegal mining case of Obulapuram Mining Corporation, a company owned by former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy.
The court came down heavily on the CBI counsel for frequently seeking extensions of her judicial remand without filing a chargesheet against Srilakshmi.
"How many times must we extend her judicial remand?" the court asked the CBI.
"If the probing agency fails to file a chargesheet, the court would have to take a decision on releasing Srilakshmi soon," the court observed.
The CBI had arrested Srilakshmi in the OMC illegal mining case. She was named as the 6th accused in the case, and is currently lodged in Chanchalguda Women's Jail. (INN)
