Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Thursday, approved a file seeking permission for the prosecution of senior IAS officer Y Srilakshmi under the Criminal Procedure Code and the Prevention Of Corruption Act.
The Central Bureau Of Investigation had, earlier, sought permission for the prosecution of Srilakshmi.
According to a media release from the Chief Minister's Office, the government approved the prosecution in view of the "serious charges" against her.
It may mentioned here that Srilakshmi was arrested by the CBI for her alleged involvement in the illegal mining case of Obulapuram Mining Corporation, a company owned by former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy. (INN)
