BRS MLC Pochampalli Srinivas faces legal trouble over a cockfight case.
The Moinabad police today issued a fresh notice to the legislator, summoning him to appear before them within four days regarding the alleged illegal cockfighting event conducted at his farmhouse.
The farmhouse, located in Survey No 165/A of Tholkatta village, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, became the centre of a major crackdown on reported illegal betting and animal cruelty.
The Rajendranagar police, in a coordinated operation, arrested 64 individuals allegedly involved in the betting and racing activities. Among those detained were key organisers Dhupathi Raju and Sivakumar.
During the raid at the farmhouse, the Special Operations Team (SOT) police is said to have seized significant evidence, including Rs 30 lakh in cash, 55 luxury cars, 86 betting hens, betting coins and solitary cards, and 46 cockfighting knives.
The authorities have officially named the MLC as an accused in the case, booking him under Section 3 of the Gaming Act and Section 11 of the Animal Protection Act.
The police believe that the event was orchestrated with high-profile backing, raising concerns about the involvement of influential figures in such illegal activities.
