Noisy protests by the opposition TDP MLAs continued to rock the house on the third day of the special session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly during a debate on the Rythu Bharosa centers that took place today.
Even as Speaker Tammineni Sitaram repeatedly urged the members to sit in their seats, the TDP MLAs surrounded his podium and kept inching towards him.
The situation reached a stage that Leader of the House and Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy angrily and emotionally urged the Speaker to take stringent action against the TDP MLAs.
Jagan said that though the TDP members were only ten in the House, they had the audacity to climb the stairs towards the Speaker's podium, and that it was all an insult to democracy.
"We are 151 MLAs here and yet we are sitting patiently and listening. The TDP MLAs on the other hand are passing objectionable comments and instigating those sitting near them. Not only is it disrespectful, they are completely disregarding the chair of the Speaker," Jagan said.
"What do we do about such people who have no culture and who don't know why they are coming to the Assembly, especially during the time when a discussion on the issues of the people is being conducted?" he asked.
He requested the Speaker that if anyone crosses the ring and comes in, he should call the Marshals to take them out of the ring.
"These 10 members are acting like rowdies and these kinds of people should be removed, else the system will never progress," Jagan said.
