The Congress Legislature Party on Tuesday cautioned the opposition parties from moving a No Confidence Motion during the special session of the Legislative Assembly to be held from November 30.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party office here, Government Chief Whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy said that although the government was ready to face and defeat the No Trust Motion, the move would stall the legislation for the SC/ST Sub-Plan.
He said that since the special session was being convened to give a statutory status to the Sub-Plan for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, all parties should ensure that it gets passed. However, he warned, if the opposition parties try to stall the proposed legislation, then the SCs and STs in the state would teach a fitting lesson to them during the next elections.
Venkataramana Reddy hoped that the proposed legislation on the SC/ST Sub-Plan would be unanimously passed in the Legislative Assembly. He said that all MLAs of the Congress party have been asked to attend the special session on December 30 and November 1.
The Chief Whip condemned the criticism being done by Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on the state government. He claimed that Naidu, in his speeches during "Vastunna Mee Kosam", padayatra has been asking farmers not to repay the loans while promising that he would waive them off after coming to power.
Stating that non-payment of loans might create several administrative problems, he said that the government was considering lodging a complaint against the TDP chief with the Election Commission of India.
Venkataramana Reddy also condemned YSR Congress party leader Sharmila and others for criticising Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
Regarding the Telangana issue, Venkataramana Reddy said that although the Congress High Command did not set any deadline, Congress President Sonia Gandhi was likely to resolve the issue at the earliest. He also ruled out the possibility of Congress MLAs from the region forming a separate front as proposed by the T-Congress MPs. He alleged that Telangana Rashtra Samithi was spreading such rumours to gain psychological advantage.
Congress MLC Bhanu Prasad was also present in the press conference. (INN)
