The Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly was adjourned till January 3, even as the House failed to debate the State Reorganisation Bill for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday.
The House witnessed noisy scenes when it met at 9am on Thursday. The pro-united Andhra Pradesh legislators of TDP and YSRCP rushed to the podium of Speaker Nadendla Manohar, and raised slogans in favour of Samaikyandhra. YSRCP MLAs were clad in black, and carried cauliflowers in their hands.
Following the uproar, within one minute, the Speaker adjourned the House for one hour.
The Seemandhra legislators continued their slogan-shouting when the House re-assembled at at 1:35pm. The Speaker then adjourned the House to meet again at 9am on January 3.
It may be mentioned that the winter session, which began on December 12, was to continue till Friday, but it was adjourned a day in advance. The Bill for the formation of a separate Telangana state was tabled in both the Legislative Assembly and the Council on Monday, after it was sent by the President. The Bill needs to be returned to the President by Jan 23. (INN)
