Telangana Jagruthi President K Kavitha's name has once again become a hot topic in the State politics.
After resigning as MLC, which she held through the BRS, Kavitha is now fully focused on her future political career. This has led to widespread discussion about the political decisions she might take next.
There is speculation that Kavitha could join the Congress in the future. In this context, Congress MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy made remarks that have generated political interest.
In a casual interaction with the media today, the Ibrahimpatnam MLA said that it would not be surprising if Kavitha were to join the Congress. "Did we ever think that MLAs Danam Nagender and Kadiyam Srihari would become part of the Congress? Yet they did. Therefore it would not astonish anyone if Kavitha also joins the Congress," he said.
These comments have drawn attention, especially at a time when there is speculation that Kavitha may launch her own party.
Malreddy, who is aspiring for a ministerial position, also commented on his own prospects. He said that he would not suffer any personal loss if he was not given a ministerial post, but it would be a loss for the Congress.
He however said that a district with a population of nearly two crore people had not been given a ministerial position so far, and that the party leaders should consider the matter seriously.
Regarding the renaming of Ranga Reddy district, he said that it was mere speculation. He added that while any number of municipalities could be created within Ranga Reddy district, its overall structure should not be altered.
Referring to development around the proposed Future City, he said that a real estate boom had taken place in the surrounding areas, with land prices rising sharply. "Therefore, no one is selling their land," the MLA said.
He also recalled that BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao had defeated him in the past because he (Reddy) had opposed the Pharma City project. "If the Pharma City had come up, it would have caused pollution over an area of 50 square kilometres," he said.
